About us

The Trekking Company is a large independent outdoor company based in the Southeast of England, established in 1989.

We run courses for:

• Schools and Colleges
• Families
• Companies
• Groups of individuals

We have around 40 instructors in the summer, and work with an enormous range of clients. Our main base for our Sussex activities is Blackland Farm, a large (110 acre) campsite owned by Girlguiding UK. We have been located at Blackland Farm for nearly 20 years and have our own facilities there including stores, an office and high wires activities.

Just up the lane, TrekCo has its own 240 acre mountain bike park - Deers Leap Bikes. If mountain biking is one of the activities in your trip to TrekCo, it will be here. We also have a bike shop, rental centre and workshop here - see www.deersleapbikes.com

Schools

TrekCo is run by two ex-teachers who understand the specific requirements of schools in planning and running enjoyable, challenging and safe outdoor experiences for school students. We work with a wide range of primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities from around the country and organise courses from single days to one-month expeditions.
Group sizes can vary from 12 - 400 students and we offer courses in a wide variety of locations throughout the U.K and abroad, so hopefully we have something for everyone. The Trekking Company is a fully licensed provider of Outdoor Activities, under the Outdoor Activity Centre (Young Persons Safety) Act 1995 (Reg. # R0043) and we pride ourselves on the high standards of instruction and care for pupils in our charge - well above those required by law.

Teambuilding and Corporate Groups

We run courses for companies either as teambuilding events or as enjotable breaks and rewards for staff. We have an impressive list of previous clients and can organise anything from a casual day out taking part in several activities to company meetings with full conference facilities alongside some teambuilding or outdoor activities.

Families

A very big part of our Sussex operation involves birthday parties - a fantastic fun day or half day for the children, an an event they'll never forget!

Personal Groups

 If you would like to organise a day or weekend for your group of friends or family, get in touch! We organise everything from a day out to adventure weekends or personal skills training in climbing and mountain activities.

 Our Staff

Our team of 40 instructional staff consists of Instructors who hold full National Governing Body qualifications, and Assistant Instructors who are working toward these. All staff are able to create a relaxed and calm environment whilst running the sessions, whilst encouraging participants to achieve as much as they can and gain from the challenging activities.
We have developed an excellent reputation for our high level of instruction and it is this area in which we pride ourselves most. Our staff are frequently involved in training instructors for other organisations and our reputation in the outdoor industry is excellent.
