Information for Teachers
Why Come to TrekCo?TrekCo is run by two ex-teachers, Steve Ranger and Paul Morley. We used to be organisers of Outdoor Education and D of E in schools, so we know exactly what teachers want from their trips. The company started in 1989, and since then we have always aimed to offer excellence in our instruction alongside an extremely friendly, relaxed yet professional atmosphere. We all know that Outdoor Education has proven, tangible benefits for students and that the transformation in them in just a short period can be quite amazing - at TrekCo we aim to give students an experience they will never forget. Our strength is in our instructors - we only employ staff who are career outdoor instructors, and our staff's experience level is far higher than the industry average. They are also slightly older than the average and the advantages of experience in instruction are apparent. If you are looking for a company of dedicated, committed outdoor people who know how to have fun and how to give you and the students a thoroughly good trip, contact us. We guarantee you will be pleased with your choice. Every group has its own Course Leader who stays with the course for its duration, as do the instructional team with your course. This ensures continuity for the students - your instructors will be working on your site and available for the duration of your course. At night there is a Duty Instructor who stays in our staff area of the campsite and is available to you at any time. If not please email or call - contact details can be found by clicking on the 'Contact Us' link above. Government Guidelines on running outdoor visitsIf you are organising an outdoor visit for a school, you have various responsibilities and sets of regulations/guidelines to comply with. We have listed the most relevant documents from the DFES and teachernet websites here for your information. Some LEAs have regulations which differ from these; it is vital that you check your own LEA's guidelines too.
