Notes - There are many ways to lighten your pack by cutting out unnecessary items or packaging, or using some items for more than one purpose. Some examples: * Shower gel can also be used as soap and doesn't need a box to stop it sticking to everything. * You don't need boxes for any cassettes you might bring, as the boxes don't make any noise at all. * You will be able to wash clothes so don't bring a change for every day, and it is unlikely that you'll need any vaguely smart clothes at all.
Conditions - We may encounter all sorts of conditions in the mountains - although the Alps are usually hot and sunny, there are thunderstorms in summer. Temperatures at night will be cool but not cold except for when you go up into the mountains when it will be colder. The daytime is normally hot with very strong burning sun.
